Before you start

What to ask your client for.

Four things make a battery feasibility study. Ask for them in one e-mail; the more complete they are, the fewer assumptions the result rests on.

  1. 01

12 months of interval meter data

The site's consumption (and feed-in, if it has solar) for a full year, at 15-minute intervals if the meter records them, hourly otherwise. A CSV or Excel export from the meter operator, the grid operator's portal or the energy supplier.

A full year has 35,040 quarter-hours. Ask for kW or kWh per interval and the time zone.

  2. 02

    The last 12 electricity bills

Every page of each bill, as PDF. They hold the tariff, the peak and capacity charges and the taxes, so the bill can be rebuilt from the meter data and checked.

  3. 03

    Grid connection capacity

The contracted capacity and the physical connection, in kW (or kVA), from the connection contract or the grid operator. In the Netherlands, also say if the grid operator has refused more capacity.

Planned loads count too: EV chargers, heat pumps, new machines.

  4. 04

    Solar data

If the site has PV or plans it: installed kWp, inverter size, orientation and tilt, and the production data if it is metered.

Good to know

Missing a few days is fine: the data check finds the gaps and asks how to treat them.Without bills the study still runs, but the savings rest on a tariff you entered, not on one checked against a real bill.Your clients' data stays in your organisation; Zorowatt processes it only to run your analyses.
